Our History
The Southern Sarpy Watersheds Partnership (SSWP or Partnership) was formed in 2016 through an interlocal cooperation act agreement between the Cities of Bellevue, Gretna, Papillion, Springfield, Sarpy County, and the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District. Spurred by anticipated urban and suburban development in southern Sarpy County, the Partnership began working to develop a comprehensive Watershed Management Plan (Plan) to guide the area in protecting its natural resources. In 2017, Houston Engineering (formerly FYRA Engineering) was selected to assist in development of the Plan. In 2024, the Plan was completed and the recommended policies were adopted by each Partner community.
Our Goal
The goal of the Partnership is proactive management within the Watershed Management Area, shown below, to protect infrastructure and preserve natural resources. This is accomplished by establishing regionally common goals, standards and policies for storm water in addition to completing priority projects.
